Us DJs have all kinds of things flowing through our imaginations, induced by music. If you ever saw the movie Scratch, you might remember one of the DJs explaining that he’s communicating with aliens. Kooky eh?

The kooky twist in my own world wide world is that sometimes I like time traveling.

This mix is a love letter written to a woman from the future.

The mixtape is the love letter of music heads. You know you’ve made one or two for somebody you like(d). Even if the cassette’s before your time, you know what it’s like to think of your one when you hear a song that reminds you of their face.

My version, recorded live, has the ups outnumbering the downs, waking up to ocean-side sunrises, playful, witty, and sometimes not so subtle sensual conversations. Double selflessness = effortless support. Feeling loved & oozing love for one another.

Only in my dreams?

But I’m also a functional daydreamer. If you may recall, I mentioned having a strong attraction toward jazz musicians who play in the present while thinking in the future. Spontaneous premeditation if there is such a thing. Improvising on a theme and propelling the adventurous emotion of ANTICIPATION.

This mix, recorded live in the East Village, NYC in the mid-2000s was also the rhythm blanket that wrapped up the cooling out couples who were in the building called the Parlay Lounge. Soul Parlay.

And this mix had a third purpose…I was asked to do a set for J-Wave Radio in Japan and I preferred to send them something that had been done live (I wanted it to be a real moment with people involved. Part two of this mix (+ the additional embellishment of an intro and adding the song Friends & Buddies – which is my theme song) is what played in Tokyo and beyond. It's been my myspace intro forever but the quality on there is like AM radio because I had to squish the 23 minute set into a 7 MB or less file.
